: The Perfect Time to Write That Book, Teach What You Know, or Try Something Totally New

You’ve spent decades working, gaining experience, and dreaming about all the things you’d do if only you had the time. Well, guess what? Retirement is that time. It doesn't mean you are only fit for the coffee table at the local fast-food place

1. Write That Book You’ve Been Thinking About for Years

How many times have you said, “One day, I’ll write a book”? Well, that “one day” has arrived.

Whether it’s a memoir, a novel, or a non-fiction guide based on your expertise, you finally have the time and freedom to put pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard). Writing isn’t just about storytelling—it’s about sharing wisdom, experiences, and perspectives that only you can offer.

Where to Start:

Brainstorm ideas—what story or knowledge do you want to share?

Set a small goal, like writing 500 words a day.

Join a local or online writing group for motivation.

Not sure if you want to write a full book? Start small! Blogging, journaling, or even writing short stories can get your creative juices flowing.

2. Turn Your Experience into an Online Course

If you’ve spent decades mastering a profession, hobby, or unique skill, why not teach others? Online learning is booming, and people are willing to pay for knowledge that’s practical, engaging, and easy to follow.

Maybe you’re a retired teacher, business owner, chef, or fitness expert. Maybe you spent years perfecting public speaking, photography, or woodworking. Whatever your skillset, there’s an audience eager to learn from you.

How to Get Started:

Choose a topic you’re passionate about and break it into lessons.

Brush up on basic tech skills (Zoom, PowerPoint, course platforms like Teachable or Udemy). I used a course called THE ROADMAP EXCLUSIVE which will teach you how to build your product from A to Z, including necessary legal documents, copywrite info, payment platforms (it is a MRR course) and how to set up an LLC or sole proprietorship, preference dependent. I will leave the link to purchase at the bottom of the blog.

3. Try Something Totally Different!

Retirement is the perfect time to step out of your comfort zone and explore interests you never had time for before. Here are a few ideas to shake things up:

Master Gardening & Start a Blog About It

Always loved plants. Turn your backyard into a thriving garden and document your journey online. Share tips, successes, and even struggles—people love real, relatable content.

Learn to Paint or Create Digital Art

Ever admired beautiful paintings and thought, I wish I could do that? Now you can! Whether it’s watercolor, acrylics, or even learning digital art on an iPad, this is a fun way to tap into your creative side.

Start a Podcast or YouTube Channel

Got a great voice, interesting stories, or a passion for conversation? Podcasting and YouTube are fantastic ways to share insights, interview guests, or just chat about topics you love.

Final Thoughts: Your Time is Now

Retirement doesn’t mean stopping—it means starting. Whether it’s writing a book, sharing your expertise through an online course, or diving into something brand new, this is your chance to explore, learn, and create on your own terms.
